Hoover School: Before Renovation    Hoover School: After Renovation

The Hoover School Renovation Project

The renovation project of the Hoover School started in November 2006 and was completed in the spring of 2009.

Tom and Dawn Brozonis, owners of the Hoover School, have made this project possible by leasing the school to the Clifford Township Historical Society for twenty five years.

Replacing the roof. Work on the new roof continues.

The renovation project took a huge leap when volunteers ripped the old metal roofing and wood shingles from the school building. A dedicated crew of carpenters and helpers, sistered the rafters and replaced trim and fascia boards. A plywood roof was prepared for the installation of a metal roof. In keeping with the original look of the building, the new roof is a "wood shakes" style. Volunteers also cleaned up the grounds and school interior. The next step was painting the exterior of the building.

Preparing for installation of the metal roof. Interior work includes the new ceiling.

Interior work is in progress and the ceiling is completed. The next tasks are to put up sheet rock, repair and refinish the floor, and paint the walls. Then the Hoover School project will be very close to finished!

Many community volunteers have worked countless hours to bring the building back to life. Their commitment and time is priceless for without them the project could not be completed.

Some of the many volunteers. Very close to finished.

Once the renovations are completed, the school will serve as the home of the Clifford Township Historical Society. Class trips are planned to allow today's students to spend a day "getting their smarts" the old fashioned way!!!

This project is funded in part with assistance from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Bureau of Recreation and Conservation. A Pennsylvania Heritage Areas Program grant is being provided to the Clifford Township Historical Society by the Endless Mountains Heritage Region, Inc.
